Purchase and Research Vehicles

There are more than 600 vehicles of 11 game nations in World of Tanks. Most of them you can research using Combat Experience and then purchase using credits.

Types of Vehicles

Each vehicle falls into one of four categories:

• Researchable vehicles – a vast collection of vehicles of different nations and types, available to all players. These vehicles can be fully or partially researched using Combat Experience, Free Experience, or blueprints.
• Premium vehicles – unique vehicles that you don’t need to research. You can purchase Premium vehicles for gold or bonds in the in-game Store or rent them in the Premium Shop. Premium vehicles can be received as a gift, as a reward obtained in special in-game events, or for completing special missions. Playing on Premium vehicles, you earn more resources—credits, Combat Experience, Free Experience, and Crew Experience—than playing on researchable vehicles of the same tier.
• Collectors' vehicles – special vehicles that are available for credits in the in-game Store. They are not bound to the Tech Tree. The maximum tier of Collectors’ vehicles available to the player depends on the highest tier of vehicles researched within the corresponding nation.  For example, by researching a Tier V vehicle in the French Tech Tree, you will gain access to all French Collectors’ vehicles, up to and including Tier V. You can research modules in Collectors’ vehicles with experience. When all modules are researched, the vehicle obtains 'Elite' status.
• Reward and Special vehicles – rare vehicles that are usually obtained in special battle modes and in-game events. These vehicles are not shown in the Tech Tree, and they do not need to be researched. Reward and Special vehicles can be purchased for bonds in the in-game Store or for credits and gold during a special event—for example, Black Market. Moreover, Reward and Special vehicles can be received for completing Personal Missions.

Research Vehicles

To research vehicles, you can use:

• Combat Experience earned in battles on researchable and Elite vehicles.
• Free Experience earned in each battle—5% from earned Combat Experience additionally converts to Free Experience. Moreover, Free Experience can be received by converting Combat Experience earned on Elite vehicles.
• Blueprint fragments can be received by completing Daily Missions, Stages in Battle Pass, and participating in various in-game events.

When the vehicle is researched, you can purchase it for credits.

In order to start researching a vehicle, you need to research all preceding vehicles in the branch. You can research only the required modules and subsequent vehicles to quickly advance along the branch.

You can also research additional modules: This will improve the technical characteristics of a vehicle. Moreover, vehicles with all their modules and technical branches researched become Elite. Combat Experience earned on Elite vehicles can be spent on accelerated crew training of this vehicle or used for conversion to Free Experience.

Research vehicles with Combat Experience

In order to research a vehicle, make sure that all previous subsequent vehicles in the branch have been researched and you have enough experience. The number on the green background below the vehicle shows how much experience you need to research it.

To research a new vehicle with experience:

1. Go to the TECH TREE tab in your Garage.
2. On the left side of the screen, choose the vehicle's nation. The Tech Tree of the relevant vehicle is displayed.
3. Click on a vehicle you would like to research. On the appearing screen, under the vehicle's image, you can find the required amount of experience to research it. If you do not have the required amount of experience, you can earn it in battles.
4. Click Research. After you research the vehicle, you can purchase it.

Research vehicles with blueprints

Vehicle blueprints are special items that provide a discount on the research cost of new vehicles.

Each blueprint consists of fragments that can be received in the following ways:

• By completing Daily Missions
• By completing special missions of Prime Gaming Kits
• By completing Stages in Battle Pass
• By participating in various in-game events

Each blueprint fragment provides a certain discount percentage to research, and with a fully assembled blueprint, you can research the vehicle without spending any experience. Read more about how to research vehicles with blueprints in the Vehicle Blueprints guide.

Purchase Vehicles

As soon as a vehicle is researched, you can purchase it for credits.

To purchase a vehicle:

1. Go to the TECH TREE tab in your Garage.
2. In the Tech Tree of the needed nation, choose the researched vehicle you would like to purchase. Under the vehicle's name, you can see the number of credits required for it. Make sure you have a sufficient number of credits.
3. Click on the vehicle's cost. In the appearing window, you can select the level of Crew Training, load standard ammunition, purchase an additional slot in your Garage, or purchase the vehicle without any configuration.
4. Click Buy. The vehicle appears in your Garage.

Purchase Premium vehicles

You don't need to research Premium vehicles, and you can buy them for gold or bonds in the in-game Store and the Premium Store. To buy a Premium vehicle:

1. Go to the TECH TREE tab in your Garage.
2. On the left side of the screen, select a nation to open its Tech Tree. Under the Tech Tree, you can find Premium vehicles of the nation available for purchase. The cost is displayed under the vehicle's image.
3. Click on the vehicle's cost. In the appearing window, you can select the level of Crew Training, load standard ammunition, purchase an additional slot in your Garage, or purchase the vehicle without any configuration.
4. Click Purchase. The vehicle appears in your Garage.

Purchase Collectors' vehicles

Collectors' vehicles – special vehicles that are available for credits in the in-game Store. Collectors' vehicles are not bound to the Tech Tree but have researchable modules. You can purchase a Collectors' vehicle of a certain tier once you research a vehicle of the same tier in the selected nation's Tech Tree. To buy a Collectors' vehicle:

1. Go to the STORE tab in your Garage.
2. Click on the icon on the left side of the screen. In the appearing window, you will see nations whose Collectors' vehicles can be purchased.
3. Choose the nation and click on the vehicle you would like to purchase. In the appearing window, you can select the level of Crew Training, load standard ammunition, purchase an additional slot in your Garage, or purchase the vehicle without any configuration.
4. Click Purchase. The vehicle appears in your Garage.
