Postmortem Mode

Commanders!

Update 1.24.1 introduces new functionality— Postmortem Mode, which allows you to improve your skills and benefit even after your vehicle has been destroyed. Postmortem Mode enables the Last Moment camera, designed to help you learn from mistakes and become a more skillful Commander.

Last Moment won’t be initially supported on maps with Random Events. It will arrive later in 2024.

Last Moment

This camera simulates a scene that visualizes the moment of destruction in one of four scenarios, depending on whether your vehicle was destroyed by:

  • An AP/APCR/HEAT/HESH shell by a spotted enemy
  • An AP/APCR/HEAT/HESH shell by an unspotted enemy
  • An HE shell by a spotted/unspotted enemy
  • An artillery hit by a spotted/unspotted enemy

Last Moment provides both Short and Detailed versions, enabling you to customize the amount of information you receive.

  • The Short version is ideal for newcomers, as it offers essential information such as the shell type and its caliber.
  • The Detailed version delves deeper into penetration mechanics and armor parameters, showcasing additional stats that may enhance your skills.

You can easily switch between the Detailed and Short Last Moment versions in the game settings.

Pressing the spacebar during the Last Moment animation will pause it and open a screen displaying additional details.

In each scenario, you will receive a comprehensive explanation of how your vehicle was sent to the Garage. Let’s see how it works.

Types of Scenarios

The vehicle was destroyed with an AP/APCR/HEAT/HESH shell by a spotted enemy

The camera will display the enemy shell's type, caliber, and trajectory. It then switches to your destroyed vehicle and indicates the location of the hit. You will see the distance the shell traveled from the enemy to your vehicle and its penetration value. After pressing the spacebar, you can see a tooltip with additional shell parameters to better understand the combat situation, such as:

  • Velocity
  • Average shell penetration
  • Armor gain by angle

The vehicle was destroyed with an AP/APCR/HEAT/HESH shell by an unspotted enemy

The camera will show the type and caliber of the enemy shell, but you won't be able to see the precise shell trajectory or your opponent's exact location. Instead, the general sector from which the shot was fired will be shown. By pressing the spacebar, you will see additional details.

The vehicle was destroyed with an HE shell by a spotted/unspotted enemy

If your vehicle was hit by an HE shell that didn’t penetrate the armor, but spall destroyed the vehicle, the camera will show which parts of your vehicle were affected.

The vehicle was destroyed by an artillery hit by a spotted/unspotted enemy

If burst fragments destroyed your vehicle, you will see the size and position of the explosion sphere. If you or your allies didn’t spot the artillery, only the general sector from which the shot was fired will be shown.

Even without knowing the exact location of the artillery, you’ll be able to understand better which cover to hide behind from its fire and how to minimize burst damage when leaving it.

You Fight, You Learn!

This is your chance to be more effective in battle! Postmortem Mode can be a valuable source of knowledge. Observing the successes and failures of other players, you can look at your actions in battle from a different perspective. Knowing where and how opponents penetrate your armor, you can better:

  • Take positions at different phases of the battle
  • Seek cover from artillery fire
  • Use various techniques for blocking damage

How to Enable/Disable Postmortem Mode

Head to the General tab in the game settings. Here, you’ll find the Postmortem Mode setting with four options to choose from:

  • Short Last Moment
  • Detailed Last Moment
  • Show enemy vehicle that destroyed your vehicle
  • Show your vehicle

Select the option you find most useful.

Play, learn, and master your skills, Commanders!
