It’s that time of year again, the ANZPL is upon us, and we’ll be kicking off the third season this Friday from 6:00PM AEST (UTC+10). We’ve got some exciting new changes to the format, to the teams, to the Fantasy League, to the sponsors and to the Twitch Drops offerings. So make sure you familiarise yourself with everything below to be ready and prepared to kick off the weekend with some incredible tanks action.
The Format
While we all enjoyed the #ANZPL Let’s 2-2 memes, it was time to do away with the Draw system, and we will now have tiebreakers in the event of a 2-2. The tiebreaker map will be selected from the Map Pool and change each week. The revised Point Structure is as follows:
- 3 Points - Outright Win
- 2 Points - Tie Breaker Win
- 1 Points - Tie Breaker Loss
- 0 Points - Outright Loss
This will shake up the leaderboard a lot, and should lead to some more intense games for you all viewing, for the players, and for a much more drastic change to the standings week on week. In addition to this, Battle Time has been extended from seven minutes to eight minutes, leading to more opportunities for exciting gameplay.
The Teams
JayRated hosted the Season 3 Draft only a few weeks ago, and there’s some exciting new names in the Premier League, as well as some movements for current players. Fantasy League
The Fantasy League has had some huge changes this season, including the addition of our version of a Salary Cap - the Star Cap, giving some impactful and meaningful choices to your line up, as well as your choices not resetting each week, so if you want to set and forget coming up to Friday, or micromanage your team each week, both options are available! The Australian Esports League is excited to bring World of Tanks to Season 2 of the 2021 AEL University Cup presented by Chatime Australia! The tournament will feature a massive $2,875 AUD prize pool with a 3v3 format for students to represent their University over 5 weeks of intense competition. ANZBL
After an explosive debut season, the Better League is back! Applications for ANZBL are now open, and given the overwhelming response to the PL Drafts this season, we are hoping to add at least another two teams to the second division, with the aim of incorporating a Promotion/Relegation mechanic between the two divisions in 2022. If you’d like to be involved in ANZBL this season, make sure to register via the link below. But be quick, as applications are closing soon!
