Commanders,
Our St. Patrick's Day celebration, Shamrock Days, has arrived—welcome to our Green Light in-game event! We take a close look at the 9 Premium vehicles and 10 rare 2D styles you can potentially find in Emerald Boxes available for purchase in the Premium Shop or in-game store from March 16 at 06:30 UTC+8 until March 23 at 00:00 UTC+8.
For Emerald Boxes:
Introducing a first for World of Tanks: The Japanese Type 5 Ka-Ri tank destroyer. Exclusively available in Emerald Boxes, don't miss this opportunity to add a brand-new nation TD to your garage. For those of you who are lucky to find one, here's what you should know prior to hitting the battlefield.
Firepower is the key strength of the Type 5 Ka-Ri. This also includes gun handling. The base dispersion is 0.34 m, and the aiming time is 2 s. Penetration values are 252 mm and 298 mm for standard and special shells, respectively, and both shells can boast high shell velocities and 500 HP of damage per shot. More exciting is DPM that can be increased to above 3,000 HP. As a sweet bonus, the vehicle's HE shells penetrate 90 mm of armor and can cause 630 HP of damage.
The Type 5 Ka-Ri easily builds up and holds its top speed of 40 km/h. The reverse speed is also good, allowing the vehicle to roll back quickly after firing. These qualities are exactly what you need from a support vehicle, especially when your task is to keep up with allies or recede after making a shot to avoid return fire.
Despite its design, the Type 5 Ka-Ri is not an assault tank destroyer but a fire support vehicle. The 220 mm of armor sounds solid, but opponents can aim for weak spots and still cause damage. Always hide the lower glacis plate: Use cover and terrain irregularities and draw upon the −7° of gun depression for help in such situations. Blocking damage with armor is not among this vehicle's strengths, so the best strategy is to avoid enemy fire.
The Ka-Ri is quite a large vehicle, which is evident after firing. Concealment is only effective if you can keep a proper spotting distance and play at the very edge, so try to remain undetected by keeping your distance from the enemy. View range is a "pretty good" 380 m for a tank destroyer, but you likely won't spot an enemy vehicle that has good concealment values.

Uh-oh. Someone drove the SU-130PM through a magic garden. The result is the Forest Spirit, a vehicle that's identical to the Soviet tank destroyer but with a unique permanent 3D style. The hard-hitting hunter boasts an accurate 130 mm gun with 520 HP of alpha damage per shot. Its great camouflage values and impressive top speed of 65 km/h make this tank destroyer a hard opponent to pin down. Traverse between the best sniping positions and surprise unsuspecting enemies with precise shots from a distance. However, avoid getting too close to opponents, as your armor can’t withstand much incoming fire.
Want to deal over 1,000 HP damage in a matter of seconds? Meet the VIII EMIL 1951 , the first Swedish heavy tank in the game to carry an autoloader. Carrying a 105 mm three-round cannon, it can execute high-impact burst fire, or more deliberate mid-range shooting. Use the –12° of gun depression in concert with the sloped turret to win hull-down duels...just keep the weak hull armor protected.
At first glance, players might mistake the VIII Gonsalo for the Caliban. Yet key differences abound—primarily the Gonsalo's lack of a two-round autoreloader. It has a 120 mm cannon that deals an impressive 440 HP of damage with 240 mm penetration and a respectable 1,760 DPM. Its 0.45 m accuracy is on the low end, so play close combat and use ambush tactics.
The VIII AltProto AMX 30 is a speedster that boasts one of the highest armor penetration values (232 mm) with a standard shell among all Tier VIII medium tanks. It can adapt to an array of roles and cause 300 HP of alpha damage with its potent 100 mm SA47-58 firearm. The outstanding –11° gun depression makes it great for peering over ridgelines, while the 65 km/h top speed and good power-to-weight ratio make it one of the most mobile mediums out there.
Comparable to the legendary IS-3 in gameplay and appearance, the VIII Kirovets-1 has a strong 390-damage-per-shot gun with 221 mm of penetration, a value on the higher end for Tier VIII Soviet heavies. The 42 km/h top speed is impressive for a heavy, while a low profile, 1,550 HP, and 195 mm thick turret armor provide strong survivability. Just be aware of the 12.46 s reload time and lackluster –5° of gun depression, which should be accounted for when heading into battle.
Scarcely seen on the battlefield, the VIII Chieftain/T95 packs a 90 mm cannon that delivers 1,920 DPM, mid-level 202 mm penetration, and sweet 400 m view range. Where the vehicle excels is in hull-down contests, where its 254 mm frontal turret armor and –10° gun depression come into play...just beware of the easy-target commander cupola and weak hull protection.
In the sixties, the Chinese experimented with putting the turret of an American M48A3 on a previously produced Type 59 hull. The result, is the unusual, but rewarding, VIII 59-Patton . With its good 400 m view range, the 59-Patton can spot easily, and makes great use of its strong American turret, which allows for good depression angles. Add reliable accuracy into the mix, and you have a solid battlefield performer.
The VIII Turtle Mk. I is an immovable object and the tactical cornerstone of the team. With a patient 20 km/h top speed, it can't race around the map, so focus on being an irresistible force with its massive 2,911 DPM gun that boasts 224/253/54 mm of penetration. An impressive 40° gun arc, –10° of gun depression, and 370 m view range provide plenty of great opportunities to strike, while its 254 mm frontal hull armor and 1,400 HP ensure excellent longevity.
Each Emerald Box also has a chance to contain 1 of 10 rare 2D styles. The following looks are non-historical and grant the following concealment bonuses: +4% to tank destroyers; +3% to light/medium tanks; and +2% to heavy tanks/SPGs.
You can see a different 2D style in each of the following tabs:
