The Winged Hussars Have Arrived!

These Winged Hussars spell big trouble for your enemies. Meet the new Polish medium tanks, Commanders!

Two years ago, Polish heavy tanks made their debut in World of Tanks. These menacing brawlers with exciting gameplay quickly achieved great popularity and found their place in the World of Tanks ecosystem. This nation gained many new fans, who asked for more Polish vehicles to be added to the game.

As a result, we spent a long time looking for the most suitable candidates. Now, we’re ready to add an entire Polish medium tank branch to the game. Let's take a closer look at the lineup.

The Polish Six

The new branch consists of six researchable tanks from Tier V to Tier X.

V DS PZInż

VI B.U.G.I.

VII CS-44

VIII CS-53

IX CS-59

X CS-63

The DS PZInż

Research for these new vehicles starts from the Tier IV 14TP. The new branch kicks off with the DS PZInż at Tier V. Its battle parameters are comparable to the Soviet T-34, but it has a more powerful gun with high alpha damage and good armor penetration.

The B.U.G.I.

This Tier VI Polish medium is a true rock star. Dynamic and agile, this versatile tank can easily change flanks and reliably hit enemies thanks to its powerful 90 mm gun with 240 points of alpha damage. Take the B.U.G.I. for a spin and get ready to turn heads on the battlefield!

The CS-44

The next newcomer is the CS-44, a versatile tank featuring a precise 100 mm gun and 300 points of alpha damage. It’s a nice support vehicle with good armor penetration and high dynamics. Play to its strengths by shooting at enemies who just fired before ducking back into cover.

The CS-53

Now for the high-tier tanks, starting with the menacing CS-53 that embodies all the finest qualities of Polish mediums. While it can’t say it has tough armor, this tank is always ready to shock enemies with its powerful gun and 300 points of alpha damage. With a gun depression angle reaching –8 degrees, this marauder can make the most of the terrain. Finally, the CS-53’s good alpha damage is complemented by great DPM, so even with its mediocre armor, this tank can jump into a 1v1 fight and come out on top.

The CS-59

This Tier IX tank features a menacing 105 mm gun with good stabilization, a depression angle of –8 degrees, and high DPM. The CS-59 can change flanks quickly or perform brilliantly as an aggressive support vehicle from the second or first line. Its accurate gun makes it easier to go hull-down, take a shot, and withdraw into cover so that enemies can’t zero in on your weak spots.

The CS-63

As the jewel in the crown of the new medium line, the key battle parameters of the CS-63 are similar to the other Polish medium tanks. Like its brothers-in-arms, this vehicle doesn't have solid armor, but it does boast good alpha damage (390 points) and great gun depression angles (–8 degrees). You can rely on the gun’s accuracy and firepower, even when on the move, enabling you to support your team as a proper flanker.

Only the gun mantlet and the small area around it has noticeable protection. To survive a battle, you should rely on the vehicle's mobility, not on the thickness of its armor. For a medium tank, the vehicle has a large HP pool at 2,000 HP. Sometimes it's preferable to exchange HP for damage and save yourself from being driven into a corner; that way you can return fire.

The key feature of the CS-63 is its rapid mode. In rapid mode, the vehicle's speed and dynamics are on par with light tanks. Such a high speed is balanced by decreased gun-handling parameters. In rapid mode, both the aiming time and gun stabilization significantly worsen. Use rapid mode to quickly take key positions and escape enemy fire, but once you reach your destination, don't forget to switch back to standard mode.

What makes this Tier X medium truly unique is its gas-turbine engine. Because of this unusual mechanic, the CS-63 boasts two different speed modes—standard and rapid. In standard mode, this top-tier tank is no different from any other vehicle in the game. But when you activate rapid mode, the CS-63 accelerates faster and its top speed exceeds 70 km/h. To enable this mode, you need to come to a complete stop and press the X key (this can be reassigned in the game settings).

Of course, you'll sacrifice some other battle parameters to gain such a high speed and fast acceleration. First, when switching engine modes, the vehicle stops automatically. Secondly, in rapid mode, gun stabilization and aiming time are significantly reduced. Finally, rapid mode decreases your concealment, making the CS-63 more visible to enemies as it changes positions.

Use the gas-turbine engine wisely and always analyze the battlefield situation before choosing the right moment to activate this unique mechanic. To make it easier for you to master this feature, we've prepared several useful tips that will allow you to play more effectively.

Gas-Turbine Engine: Gameplay Tips

  • Rapid mode allows the CS-63 to perform tactical maneuvers that are not available to other medium tanks, such as at the start of the battle. While allied and enemy medium tanks are only just approaching their usual positions, the CS-63 could have already secured the most advantageous firing spot and begun sending shells the enemy’s way.
  • Keep in mind that you can quickly support allies on the opposite flank. If your team needs reinforcements urgently, this Winged Hussar can rush to its allies at the speed of some top light tanks. If the battle is not going in your favor, you can beat a hasty retreat and take a different position to cover your allies.
  • When used wisely, rapid mode enhances the performance of the CS-63. However, for about 90% of the battle, you'll probably be using standard mode.
  • Oh yes! Don't forget to switch back to standard mode, as it will significantly increase the effectiveness of your vehicle's firepower.

We hope you enjoy playing these new Polish medium tanks. Good luck on the battlefield, Commanders!
