Vehicle Description

This tank destroyer features a rotating turret, a powerful gun with nice depression/elevation angles, good mobility, but weak armor. It is similar to the M18 Hellcat but with a more effective gun and lower maneuverability. All these parameters call for safe tactics such as finding concealed positions and using terrain irregularities.

Historical Reference

This vehicle project, using the chassis of the T24 light tank, was proposed in July 1943. The vehicle was to feature the 90 mm gun from the M36 tank destroyer. The U.S. Armed Forces requested the completion of trials and improvements to the chassis before converting the vehicle to a tank destroyer, but the program was discontinued in August 1943, in spite of successful trials by the T24 tank. No prototypes were built.
