Tank Commanders!

This week’s Collector’s Gem is a bit of an oddball. This time around, we bring you a Tier III medium tank: the Grosstraktor Krupp, the “large tractor” by the Krupp Company.

It looks exactly the way it sounds. It’s big. It’s got tracks. It even has a 75mm howitzer main gun to complete the look.

The Grosstraktor Krupp was one of six experimental vehicles that was developed and tested in secret in the late 1920s and early 1930s. It was given the name of “traktor” in order to hide its intended military use, which was forbidden under the Treaty of Versailles. It never entered service because of the sheer number of problems encountered during testing, and was eventually returned to Germany and turned into a monument at a German training camp. Its existence, however, was not a complete waste. The data gathered from testing the Grosstraktor proved useful in the development of other German vehicles.

This vehicle will be available in the Premium Shop from from 16th October 2015 to 19th October 2015 in a special weekly bundle, which includes 5,000 , a free garage slot, and the vehicle itself.

Tank commanders who enjoy bringing their foes to an abrupt and untimely end will love the Grosstraktor Krupp.

Its 75mm howitzer dishes out alpha damage in generous amounts. When used in conjunction with HE rounds, the Grosstraktor has the potential to immediately cripple or destroy poorly armoured foes in a single hit. Just don’t expect it to do the same against heavily-armoured or higher-tier tanks. Its main gun simply does not provide enough penetration for that.

Commanders who wish to use the Grosstraktor should focus on locating and destroying targets with weaker armour, and must compensate for the main gun’s low accuracy and low shell velocity. If forced to fight heavy tanks, try to move together with your allies instead of taking them on by yourself. The Grosstraktor is not good at taking punishment.

In summary, the Grosstraktor Krupp is terror on tracks for any enemy vehicle with low armour and speed. If you prefer short engagements and enjoy driving a powerful cannon contained in a cardboard hull, this premium tank is the one for you!

Pros:

  •          Large hitpoint pool
  •          Good mobility and speed
  •          Great gun elevation and depression values
  •          Good alpha damage

Cons:

  •          Massive profile
  •          Poor gun accuracy and handling characteristics
  •          Low shell velocity and penetration
  •          Very thin armor
