Gameplay
With frontal armour as strong as this, especially for its tier, you can bet that this vehicle is meant for the front line. Don't worry about the lower frontal plate, it might be thinner than the upper plate, but it has a better angle. Keep in mind that side-scraping does not work well and will result in unnecessary damage taken, and occasionally in a damaged ammo rack.
When trying to 'tank' damage, watch out for the commander's hatch on top of the turret, it's very easy to penetrate. To make it more difficult for the enemy to hit it, try moving forward and backwards at a slight angle. This works especially well when fighting in 100–200m combat range, resulting in your cupola becoming very hard to hit. While the enemy is busy aiming, you can buy time for yourself and your team to fire back.
On the topic of firing, the AMX M4 mle. 49's gun is decent, even though it lacks reliability. This means that you shouldn't try to snipe other vehicles from afar, as it's quite a high chance that you will miss. However, this just underlines the role of this vehicle as a front line tank, as accuracy and stabilization don't matter as much there.
Because of the mediocre rate of fire and single-shot damage, it becomes clear that you are not the main damage dealer of the team, but the force that helps push through the enemy defences. Of course, this shouldn't stop you from trying to wreck the red team as much as you can. See it from this perspective: with your superior survivability, you potentially remain in the game for longer, hence increasing your potential damage output.
Equipment
Recommended setup |
---|
This equipment setup aims on decreasing the aforementioned weak point of the AMX M4 mle. 49 - its rather unreliable gun. The Vertical Stabilizer will be of great use as this particular piece decreases the dispersion penalties when moving your hull or turret. In the end, this will raise your chance to hit and penetrate when using "peek-a-boo" (quickly peek out of the cover, shoot, and retreat) tactics.
Crew Skills

---|---|---|---|
Gunner | |||
Driver | |||
Radio operator | |||
Loader |
This is a fairly common choice of crew skills, with the goal of reducing the repair time of your most crucial modules, such as your tracks. The skills in the second row will reduce the impact of this vehicle's weaknesses, such as the mediocre stabilization and the weak ammo rack, and the Brothers-in-Arms perk gives a general boost to all parameters.
