Fight for Asia in the Kubinka Open Cup!

We bear exciting news. The International Kubinka Open Cup is about to begin, and we're looking for the best teams in Asia to represent us!

This is a global tournament; teams from all over the world will also be fighting for the chance to represent their respective regions. You can be sure that they will send in their elite World of Tanks teams, so we need to answer in kind.

Road to Kubinka: The tournament process

Preliminary Rounds

The Kubinka Open Cup will first begin seperately for all regions. In Asia, we'll be holding a Preliminary Rounds phase, where a maximum of 128 teams will be seeded into Round 1, comprising of 16 tournament bracket groups.

As teams are eliminated from the Preliminaries, the tournament will progress to Round 2 and 3, with fewer tournament brackets. Finally, a Semi Final and Grand Final match will be staged for the top 4 teams in Asia at the end of the Preliminary Rounds.

At the end of the Preliminary Rounds, the top 32 teams will be awarded:

  • 1st Place: The chance to represent Asia in the International Kubinka Open Cup Grand Final!
  • 2nd – 4th Place: 3,000 gold per each player
  • 5th – 8th Place: 1,500 gold per each player
  • 9th – 32nd Place: 500 gold per each player

Here's a list of the entire process, complete with starting schedules and tournament conditions:

  • Round 1 (8th August, 20:00pm) - 128 teams, 16 Groups, Round-Robin Bo1
  • Round 2 (9th August, 20:00pm) - 32 teams from top 2 of 16 groups in round 1, 4 Groups, Round-Robin Bo1
  • Round 3 (11th August, 20:00pm) – 8 teams from top 2 of 4 groups in round 2, 1 Group, Round-Robin Bo1
  • Semi Final and Grand Final by Double Elimination (13th August, 20:00pm) - top 4 teams from Round 3, Bo5 (Grand Final Bo7)

International Grand Finals

After their initial victory, Asia's top team from the Preliminary Rounds will proceed to the International Grand Finals. Set in the cold reaches of Kubinka, Russia, the birthplace of some of the most legendary tanks in the world will serve as a fitting site for an epic end to this World of Tanks event on 14th September, 2014.

Asia's champions will be joined by those in the West, the CIS, China and Korea for one final showdown.

Besides the chance of being crowned the world champion of World of Tanks, the Kubinka Open Cup also boasts a prizepool of USD 10,000:

  • 1st Place: USD 4,000
  • 2nd Place: USD 3,000
  • 3rd Place: USD 2,000
  • 4th Place: USD 1,000
