NOTE: Stage 3 will begin on 10th December 2013 and end on 22nd December 2013.
The third and last stage of Clan Wars awaits, and it will be your final chance to secure the Victory Points needed to become part of the winning clan for the entire Second Campaign.
You have done your best to keep up with the trains as they moved through the provinces in the previous stage. But no matter which tactic you chose - be it escorting the caravans, intercepting it or staying behind to glean the leftovers - prepare to abandon them yet again, because the third stage brings with it a new set of rules and mechanics.
Read on to learn more about what to expect in Stage 3.
Stage 3: Gold Rush
In stage 3, the Global map will be populated by groups of provinces known as Gold Fields. Gold Fields are typically found in groups, consisting of provinces called 'Gold Mines', which are arranged in a flower-like formation. The province in the center of this formation is a special type of province, called the 'Pot of Gold'.
These Gold Mines and Pot of Gold provinces will appear in a staggered schedule. Once it appears, each Gold Field will stay for four days, after which they will disappear from the map. At any one time, the Global Map will have several Gold Fields scattered throughout, so players will need to be aware of any new changes and react to them quickly.
Note: Stage III will be preceded by a short ‘re-division’ phase, which will turn all provinces into landing zones for the duration of one day. The map will not be wiped in this process, so all provinces controlled at the end of Stage II will remain in posession at the beginning of Stage III. If a landing battle results in a draw, the attacker will be considered the winner.
In summary, these are the most important points to take note of:
A 'Gold Field' is a group of provinces on the Global Map. These provinces are called 'Gold Mines'.
A 'Gold Mine' is a province located within a Gold Field, and typically surround the central province.
The province located in the center of a Gold Field is called the 'Pot of Gold'.
Only Gold Mines will generate Victory Points.
Pot of Gold provinces do not give Victory Points when captured, but instead grants a bonus multiplier effect for all other captured Gold Mines within the Gold Field group.
A Gold Field exists for 4 days at a time.
All Pot of Gold provinces become landing zones on Day 1 and Day 3 of its existence.
All Pot of Gold provinces are marked with the following icon on the Global Map:
All Gold Mines (without having captured their Pot of Gold provinces) are marked with the following icon on the Global Map:
If a clan takes control of a Pot of Gold, the Gold Mines in their possession will be marked with the following icon:
Victory Point Earnings
The only way to receive Victory Points for this stage is to capture and retain control of as many Gold Mine provinces as possible (The provinces arranged around the central Pot of Gold province). Once captured, each Gold Mine will begin to yield 42 Victory Points for the owning clan every turn, until it is captured by another clan - who will begin to receive Victory Points following their capture - or until it disappears from the Global Map. For this reason, it should be noted that all Victory Points gained are permanent.
Each group of Gold Fields contains a special province in its center, called a Pot of Gold. These provinces do not provide Victory Points by themselves, but when captured, they boost the Victory Point income of all adjacent Gold Mines owned by the same clan by 4 times the amount.
Each group of Gold Fields will exist for a total of four days. On the first and third day of their existence, their Pot of Gold provinces will be marked as available for landings, giving each clan the opportunity to take control of the Gold Fields from the inside, rather than fighting their way in.
On the fourth day, the group of Gold Fields will disappear. To give players ample chance to gain Victory Points at a reasonable rate, each wave of Gold Fields will appear in 2 day intervals throughout the Global Map.
Fame Point Earnings
Fame Points are still earned by participating in battles, and most Fame Point multipliers are still in effect in Stage 3.
The base Fame Point amount awarded is dependent on the total EXP earned per battle by the winning team, which is divided equally amongst its players.
A x1.0 Fame Points multiplier is applied for all battles conducted in Stage 3.
All mainland province battles will give a x5.0 Fame Points multiplier.
Only final battles with the province owner are eligible.
At the end of Stage 3, the top 3 clans based on total Victory Points earned will receive a multiplier for all clan members:
1st place: x3.0 multiplier
2nd place: x2.0 multiplier
3rd place: x1.5 multiplier
Apart from primary factors that can greatly influence the overall Fame Points gained, there are also secondary missions that can affect it in more subtle ways:
Call of Fame: All clan members participating in a battle to conquer a Gold Mine province will receive a 10% increase in their Fame Points for that battle.
Only final battles with the province owner are eligible.
Corker: All members of a clan (that has not possessed a single Gold Mine or Pot of Gold province at the start of battle) will receive a 20% increase in their Fame Points after a battle with a clan that has at least one Gold Mine or Pot of Gold province.
It is important to note that these effects are cumulative. For example, if a player wins a mainland province battle (x5.0) during Stage 3 of the campaign (x1.0), and is part of the clan that wins that stage (x1.5), the resulting formula would be [(Base Fame Points) x 5 x 1 x 1.5].
