Tank Commanders!

Have you checked out your clan's Stronghold lately? We hope the construction process has been going well; some of those bonuses can prove to be invaluable in future battles.

A few clans have already upgraded most, if not all of their structures to the maximum level of 4 (for now; the cap will be increased in the next Update), but there are still some of you who are still gathering the resources needed to develop a new zone. That's okay, though; Operation Upgrade Strongholds will be in effect from this weekend onwards, and will definitely boost your Strongholds progress.

Operation Upgrade Strongholds Special

From this weekend until the end of the month, any player that participates in a Skirmish battle for their Stronghold will receive a x3 Crew EXP bonus for all victories. Now there's no reason not to be a part of your clan's rise to power. Make them proud; roll out to victory!

Crew EXP for all victories in Skirmishes

Wait, what is Strongholds all about?

In case you're just coming back to World of Tanks and skipped all the excitement of Update 9.2's release, you may be interested to know that Strongholds is an entirely new gameplay feature that was just added to the game.

Each clan that has at least 20 members will now have access to their own Stronghold, a literal base to call their own. Each Stronghold initially comes with a Command Center and 6 empty plots of land called 'zones' where additional structures can be built, but it is up to the clan itself to decide when and where to build them. Structures are also a requirement for manufacturing Reserves, which can provide very useful bonuses in battle.

How do I build or upgrade Stronghold structures?

The structures in a Stronghold are built using a unique currency called Industrial Resource. This currency can only be earned through two different methods:

  1. Participating and winning a Skirmish battle. A special menu to access Skirmishes is available in the Strongholds section for anyone to form a group and do battle.
  2. Participating and winning an attack on an enemy Stronghold (not implemented yet - more info here)

Industrial Resource are also used to upgrade existing structures, which will in turn boost the effectiveness of the Reserve provided by that specific structure.

Reserves: Choosing when and where to use bonuses

The bonuses provided by Reserves don't work around the clock. Instead, the clan commander must manually activate them first before it comes into effect, giving them more control of when and where to deploy the bonuses.

Here's a list of bonuses and advantages that can be granted by activating a Reserve:

  • Credit income bonus
  • Free EXP bonus
  • EXP bonus
  • Crew EXP bonus
  • Industrial Resource bonus from Skirmishes
  • Industrial Resource bonus from attacking enemy Strongholds
  • Reduction of stolen Industrial Resources after attack by enemy

The Future of Strongholds

There are many more things coming in the near future for the Strongholds feature, such as:

  • Recon: Spy on enemy Strongholds to identify weaknesses.
  • Attack: Stage an assault on an enemy Stronghold to earn significant amounts of Industrial Resource, as well as the respect of your other clans!
  • Defend: Your enemies will not be idle as well. Prepare to defend your Stronghold, or risk humiliation and loss of Industrial Resources.
  • And more!
